Who can talk about God and faith who has no qualification or licence to Minister? Maybe the answer is that nobody can and nobody should. Journalists sometimes entertain discussions involving religion as well as legal academics. Warren A. Lyon is a Journalist and a Legal Academic. No one is trying to seek or take authority in participating in our world's love of faith with written discussion. Entering such discussion and faith itself is helped with some respect for the actual historical truth of the places, persons and characters involved in the stories. Whether Jesus lived and worked as a carpenter and Rabbi is one question of faith. It is also question of historical truth. If you accept him as your saviour is a second question. The saviour question is rooted in the Jewish teaching involving sacrifice for sin. There is a verse that says "without the shedding of blood, there is no remission for sin." The Jewish culture in Leviticus teaches about such sacrifices to be made by the Levitical Priest. The shedding of blood for sin is found in the Egyptian Pharaonic culture that offered possibly a bird as a sacrifice which may have proved more efficient and the sacrifice was only once a month from what we understand. We learn from this several lessons. You cannot be a genuine human being and deny the reality of Christ as a historical figure. Everyone has to agree on that. His experience with Herod and the Sanhedrin is also a genuine historical experience. The fact that He accepted His role as a symbol of sacrifice for sin was an ultimate work of efficiency so that you may have life and life more abundantly. If you are offering all of your livestock, your fish, your water and your children also, how can you have any life? How can you have any abundance? You seem to be offering to get out of sin but you have personified yourself as sin and you offer for acceptance but not from God. You offer for social and material acceptance. You have made a profound culture of this to say everybody has to offer before they can begin to have any life in the real world and to ensure this offering happens and is necessary, you would rather halt socioeconomic entitlements as mandated by law. You have to be stupido man! Just accept the sacrifice offered for all time and get over your ego man. He did the work to satisfy your need for remission of sins; te comprende? Bueno!
